Grazing crisis: Fulani group lauds Bauchi governor’s interventions

The association, in a statement by its National Secretary, Saleh Alhassan, said the governor’s latest stand in the ongoing raging herders

A socio-cultural Fulani association, Miyette Allah Kautal Hore, has described the Bauchi  State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed as God sent leader that is always in support of peace, justice and equality.

The association, in a statement by its National Secretary, Saleh Alhassan, said the governor’s latest stand in the ongoing raging herders /farmers conflicts is to situate the conflicts within the proper context devoid of the current politicisation with the hope of finding a sustainable solution rather than playing to the gallery.

‘’The governor has treaded where angels were scared to tread in the past. He has taken what every politician will consider as political risk in the past by holding divergent views where others have failed or chicken out,’’ the statement said.

The governor had recently called for calm, justice and equal rights over the on-going crisis between herders and the farmers.

The association noted that the governor, had previously taken such a position at the senate during “the doctrine of necessity,” when the then-ailing (late) President Umaru Yar’adua was incapacitated and the making of Vice President Goodluck Jonathan the acting President.

‘’This was because he believed in the unity and peaceful co-existence of Nigeria as one indivisible entity where every citizen has equal rights and privileges,’’ the statement added.

The association assured the governor of the total support of the Fulanis, assuring that its members will continue to conduct their business peacefully and in accordance with the laws of the land.
