Government at all levels has been urged to encourage local entrepreneurs so that they can train and provide employment to Nigeria’s teeming youths and the unemployed.
An entrepreneur and the founder of AEE Natural Hair Treatment, Hajiya Aisha Musa Jidda, who made the call in Kaduna, said women, particularly housewives, must embrace skills as a source of income to become self-employed.
She said women had no option but to learn skills, adding that her dream was to establish a skill sacquisition centre to train women on hair treatment with natural creams.
In an interview with Arewa Trust Weekly, Hajiya Aisha said she had trained 15 women since she started her business two months ago, adding that, “My joy is to see how I can empower women in different skills because if a woman is empowered she will be independent without necessarily depending on her husband financially.”
She said her company had a growing customer base that included Kano and Lagos, and appealed to government at all levels to offer support to local entrepreneurs so that they could empower many others in their communities.
