The Yobe State Government said it will vaccinate 2, 402,500 livestock against trans-boundary diseases across 17 local government areas of the state.
The state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, who made the disclosure while lunching the Mass Annual Animals Vaccination Exercise at Babbangida, Tarmuwa Local Government Area, said the gesture was aimed at expanding the state’s economy through agriculture and livestock farming.
He said that funds have been released to procure vaccines and inputs that would cover 900,000 heads of cattle against CBPP and Black quarter (BQ); 1,500,000 sheep and goats against PPR and 2,500 dogs against rabies.
Gaidam, who was represented by the state commission for Agriculture, Engr. Mustapha Gajerima, said the government will continue to support livestock farmers in order to boost the state`s economy.
