The Bayelsa State Government has restated its determination to fight discriminatory policies and practices against women in the country, saying being weaker vessels does not make them lesser humans.
The Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, stated this yesterday while granting audience to a delegation of Tari-Ere Ogbo Women Association at his office in Government House, Yenagoa.
He said there was no basis for discrimination because women make more sacrifice in the development of society than their male counterparts.
Extolling the virtues of women, Senator Ewhrudjakpo insisted that comparatively, women contribute more to the stability of the family in particular and society in general and therefore deserve better treatment, especially in Nigeria.
