As the government commences the exportation of yams, it needs to do more to encourage farmers so that the policy can be sustained. We have been talking about diversification from oil and exporting yam is a way of achieving that.
When farmers see that they are earning a lot from yam produced, they will produce more and even youths, especially the unemployed ones will go into farming. So, I commend the government for the initiative. I also urge states and local government to key into the project.
