The Nasarawa State Government and the Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria (IHVN) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish of a world-class research laboratory for Lassa fever and other viral epidemics.
Speaking at the event in Lafia yesterday, the state capital, the state Commissioner of Health, Dr Daniel Iya, expressed joy over the setting-up of the centre and the partnership with IHVN.
He said when fully operational, the centre would help make accurate diagnosis and prognosis on diseases.
The Chief Executive Officer of IHVN, Dr Patrick Dakum, said the institute would be providing the technical support to ensure that the centre meets accreditation standards.
