Governorship aspirant pledges support to traditional institutions on peace building

Member representing Nasarawa/Toto Constituency at House of Representatives and a governorship aspirant on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state, Arc. Ja’afaru Ibrahim, has pledged to offer adequate support to traditional institutions in the state on peace building if elected governor in 2019.

Ibrahim who stated this on Monday when he visited the Andoma of Doma, Alhaji Ahmadu Aliyu-Ogah in Doma LGA said giving traditional rulers in the state added support than what they are getting now will offer them the required capacity to advocate peace initiatives among different tribes in their domains.

The lawmaker assured that he would make traditional institutions vibrant, give maximum recognition and respect to traditional rulers as custodians of values, customs and good mediators and prioritise their inputs in negotiations to resolve communal crises in the state.

Ibrahim said the contribution of the traditional institutions towards the entrenchment of peace and harmonious co existence cannot be overemphasized hence the synergy with the institution to promote societal cohesion and social stability in the state.

He urged the traditional leaders and all communities in the state to continue to sustain peace and harmonious co existence among themselves so as to create a conducive environment for economic and social development.

The governorship hopeful promised to put in place an effective, efficient and well motivated civil service with a reward system for performance also said if elected, he would ensure that the administration of pension is highly prioritized.

He explained that he was in Doma to seek the royal father’s blessings and seek the support of party members in the area towards his ambition, adding that his desire to join the race was out of the passion to contribute to the development of Nasarawa state.

Responding the Andoma of Doma Ahmadu Aliyu-Oga, appreciated the lawmaker for deeming it fit to visit his domain and assured him that the people of Doma have resolved to support any aspirant who has genuine plans that will improve the lives of residents in the state.
