Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State was Sunday conferred with the traditional title of Dan Majen Gombe, by the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III.
Announcing the title, the Sallaman Gombe, Alhaji Usman Adamu, said after series of consultations, Emir Abubakar III sent the delegation of eminent personalities and key Emirate Council members to formally convey and pronounce the title of Dan Maje of Gombe conferred on Governor Yahaya.

He said the delegation was led by former Governor Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu of Bauchi state, alongside prominent personalities from within and outside the state to convey the emir’s message.
He said: “The Emir has seen the ongoing work in the area of healthcare, education, roads, erosion control where we have witnessed the reduction of houses destruction due to flooding. The Emir has been open to advice and that is the reason why we are convinced to bring the message. Our coming is not political.”
Earlier, Adamu Mu’azu, who spoke on the long-standing relationship between Gombe and Bauchi States informed the governor that the title conferred on him was in recognition of his administration’s tremendous achievements in various sectors of the economy within a span of two years in office.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after the brief ceremony, Governor Yahaya said the title of Dan Maje conferred on him by the Emir of Gombe will be a morale booster for him to do more for the people of the state.
He added that the honour means more dedication and more commitment to good governance and service delivery to the people.
