Governor Lalong appoints five new judges

The Governor of Plateau State Simon Lalong has approved the appointment of five new judges for the Plateau State judiciary.

The governor, in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Mark Longyen said that the appointments followed a recommendation of the judicial officers by the National Judicial Council (NJC).

The new judges are; Geoffrey Mwasu Kamyal, Gedaliah Dayen Fwamyon and Boniface Shalyuun Ngyouu for High Court.

Others are; Muhammad Mustapha Hassana for Shari’a Court of Appeal and Veronica Julcit Dadom for Customary
Court of Appeals.

Lalong added that the appointments would take effect immediately in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended with regards to the appointment of judicial officers.

According to the statement, the new judges would be sworn in by the governor tomorrow at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, in Jos.
