Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has presented six Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to the state judiciary after recently granting the arm of government financial autonomy.
Governor Alia said vehicles symbolise his administration’s dedication to ensuring the welfare and effective service delivery of the judiciary in the state, while commending their invaluable contributions.
The announcement came on Wednesday through the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Public Order, Barrister Fidelis Mnyim, who clarified the purpose of the vehicle donation.
He explained that the governor’s action is a testament to the promise made upon assuming office to provide support to the judiciary.
Responding to queries raised by Prof. Ernest Ojukwu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, regarding the viability of autonomy granted to the Benue State Judiciary, Mnyim reiterated that the procurement of vehicles for the judiciary constitutes an additional benevolent gesture by the governor.
He emphasised that Governor Alia granted full financial autonomy to the judiciary in February 2024.
