Governor Abubakar speaks on alleged fresh recruitment in Bauchi

Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has denied alleged recruitment of new workers into the state civil service.

The governor, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Ali M. Ali, stated that the clarification was necessary following the allegation by some people close to the Governor-elect.

“Following several inquiries by the press, the attention of the Bauchi State Government has been drawn to what it considers unfounded concerns of key spokesmen of gov-elect, Senator Bala Mohammed.

“Towards the tail end of last week, these spokesmen went to town with the story that the outgoing government of MA Abubakar is deliberately, bloating the state labour force by recruiting more personnel at the eleventh hour.

“They inferred that the government of the day is deliberately doing that as a trap for the in coming government,” the statement added.

The statement noted that the allegations were misrepresentation of facts as the said recruitment was rather an internal transfer of personnel within the existing labour force to meet the accreditation requirements of some tertiary institutions in the state.

According to the statement, among the institutions affected by the internal transfer are: College of Legal Studies, Misau, College of Education, Azare, College of Education, Kangere, Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi and College of Agriculture, Bauchi.

The statement however, said that the appointment of casual workers in the treasury division and Bauchi state Orphans and Vulnerable Children Agency (BASOVCA) was regularized.

It added that in all the two instances, due process was strictly adhered to and none of them violated the law.
