Government surveys schools to improve standards

The Sokoto State Government is to commence the second phase survey of 120 secondary schools in its bid to identify areas that impedes the standard of education in the state.

Chairman, Technical Committee on the implementation of the State of Emergency on Education, Prof. Riskuwa Shehu who disclosed this while speaking on the planned survey, said it would cover the entire state.

He noted that the first phase of the survey involved 40 schools.

Prof. Shehu said the survey seeks to use some instruments crucial in the provision of quality education such as staff-to-classroom ratio, student-teacher ratio, students’ population, availability of classrooms and the quality of teachers. Others are availability and quality of facilities including laboratories, libraries, Information Technology and staff welfare.
