The latest attacks by bandits which claimed the lives of 15 police officers in Zamfara State is disheartening.
How could terrorists have outnumbered, ‘outweaponed’ and overpowered our security personnel and kill up to that number in one fell swoop?
Terrorists carrying sophisticated weapons, attacking security formations and sacking villages is unacceptable. We can’t continue this way.
A situation where non-state actors are challenging the sovereignty of our country is a national embarrassment and humiliation. Superior forces must be applied to completely subdue the heartless terrorists.
The increased level of the imbroglio has also been linked to the actions of some unrepentant groups of bandits that send farmers packing from their lawful occupation.
Achieving food security would remain a dream if nothing is done to bring an end to banditry.
Security is everybody’s business. We must all work together to ensure the safety of our communities and country in general.
The Nigerian security agencies should, as a matter of urgency, stop the trend.
If their old system is not working, new ideas and innovation should be devised and put in place to decimate all the criminals elements in the country.
My heart goes to the family of those who lost their lives innocently in the hands of criminal elements who continue to challenge the sovereignty of our dear nation.
May God comfort the families of our fallen heroes and may peace reign in our country.
