The Kogi State Government presented appointment letters to 21 graded chiefs recently appointed in the state.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Ohere, who presented the letters, charged them to promote peaceful co-existence in their communities.
Alhaji Ohere explained that there could be no meaningful development in an atmosphere of chaos and insecurity, hence the need to partner with government in fighting crime and criminality in the state.
He said the appointment of the new traditional rulers was duly done in accordance with the chieftaincy law No. 23 of 2006, adding that the era of imposing of traditional rulers on the people was over.
