Katsina State governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda has presented the 2024 budget estimate of N454.3 billion to the state’s House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
The budget has N329,979,518,595.97 (72.63 per cent) as capital expenditure and N124,329,900,378.70 (27.37 per cent) as recurrent expenditure.
It is N153.67bn higher than the 2023 budget.
The state’s Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Bello H. Kagara, said the water sector has the largest share of N67.1bn followed by education, which has N66.4bn and works with N53.5bn.

Health got N38.3; environment, N37.7bn while agriculture was allocated N20.5bn.
He said the budget would be financed by FAAC allocation of N148bn; N251.2bn aids, grants and capital development funds; N40bn internally-generated revenue as well as N15bn opening balance.
On the recurrent expenditure, the commissioner said personnel cost will gulp N38.5bn, pension and gratuity N17.9bn, while other recurrent expenditures, which include debt servicing, self-sustained revenue, and overhead cost were allocated N67.85bn.
