The Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, has unveiled hole 5 at Calabar Golf Club with a memorial Golf kitty.
The unveiling was in honour of a veteran golfer, late Pastor Ekpeyong Ita.
Represented by Commissioner for Sports in the state, Mrs Agnes Atsu, the governor disclosed plans to change the fortunes of golf in the state within the shortest possible time.
Otu commended Nyoki Ita, son of late Pastor Ekpeyong Ita for honoring his father with a kitty that attracted golfers from all over the country to Calabar.

The governor who teed off the big event amid cheers from the crowd described late Pastor Ita as a great man who had positively touched and impacted the lives of many.
Captain of the Calabar Golf Club, Major General AM Sabo also lauded Nyoki Ita for not only acquiring hole 5 at the Calabar Golf Club in memory of his late father but also for introducing golfing activities into his burial ceremony.
Remarking, Nyoki described his father as one who was a pacesetter and a great man of God, disclosing that the Memorial Golf kitty will be an annual event.
At the end of the maiden edition of Pastor Ekpeyong Ita Memorial Golf kitty, Sam Kalio emerged the overall winner with a net score of 72 on Count back, Raymond Ovat finished second with a score of 72 nett while the Secretary of the Club, Samson Onah, came third.
