Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, alongside Governors Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno and Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, recently embarked on a study tour of Pakistan.

The visit, facilitated by the Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) and coordinated by the North East Development Commission (NEDC), was funded by the World Bank and aimed to learn and adopt best practices in post-insurgency disaster management.

The governors visited several institutions in Pakistan, including the Punjab Municipal Development Fund Corporation (PMDFC), LGCD, Punjab Planning and Development Board, Punjab Disaster Management Authority, Islamabad Disaster Risk Management Portfolio, Khyber Project, Pakistan National Disaster Management Authority, and met with UN agencies.

The tour provided the governors with firsthand experience of Pakistan’s recovery strategies and opportunities to network with international disaster management experts.

This exposure is expected to enhance recovery and resilience strategies in their states.

Governor Fintiri’s leadership has made significant progress in rehabilitating insurgency-affected communities in Adamawa State.

His administration prioritizes infrastructure rehabilitation, community reconstruction, and support for resuming normal lives, including returning to farming, education, and local business revival.

These efforts have restored hope and stability.

Additionally, the creation of the Ministry of Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, and Restoration, along with programs for human capital development, demonstrates his commitment.
