Gov Fintiri Approves N3.9b Flood Control Project in Yola

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a N3.9 billion project to extend the Saminaka Storm Water drainage from Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Yola to Airforce Comprehensive Secondary School Yola in order to mitigate flooding in the state.

The project, awarded to Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited, aims to excavate and construct a 2.4km long, 7m wide, and 1.5m deep storm water drainage.

The six-month project will also connect existing culverts across the Jambutu bypass and provide access culverts at selected locations.

This development follows an appeal by the Chief of Air Staff during a courtesy call on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, who pledged to address the issue.

The project aligns with the state government’s urban renewal initiative, aimed at transforming Yola’s landscape.

The move is seen as a proactive measure to prevent flooding and ensure the well-being of residents. With this project, Governor Fintiri’s administration reinforces its commitment to leaving no one behind and touching every aspect of the state’s development.
