Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state has expressed concern over increasing rate of kidnapping in the state .
Ishaku, while addressing 49 third-class chiefs in his office, Wednesday, warned that Royal fathers must wake up to the challenge and ensure security in their domains.
He said the incident in which a man was kidnapped after selling his cows for N50 million in Maisamari town in Sardauna local government area was unfortunate.
He said informants who work with kidnappers are residing in many part of the state and such people must be monitored and arrested.
Ishaku said illegal sales if lands to strange people was responsible of increasing rate of kidnapping and other crimes in the state.
He said efforts are being made to track those that kidnapped the cows owner in Maisamari.
Ishaku warned that the security of the people should be a top priority of the Royal fathers, urging them to work with security agents to secure their domains.
He also warned graded chiefs to ensure prompt payment of salaries of District Heads and village heads in their respective chiefdoms.
According to him reports at his disposal showed that some chiefs are not paying salaries to the District and village heads.
Meanwhile, the governor has raised an alarm that most Chinese doing business in Taraba state have no passports and other documents.
He said most of the Chinese who are into lumbering are destroying forest reserves in the state.
Ishaku had earlier warned against cutting Madrid trees which is an expensive tree that is available in the state.
He alleged that the Chinese are cutting trees and taking them to China without due process.
