Gov Bello in last-minute cabinet reshuffle, sacks Chief of Staff, AG

Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has dissolved the State Executive Council and sacked heads of some agencies and parastatals.

The move coming at the tail end of the governor’s administration is contained in the statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mohammed Onogwu and made available to journalists in Lokoja.

Also relieved of their position were the Chief of staff to the state government, Jamiu Asuku, and the state Accountant General, Alhaji Jibrin Momoh among others.

The statement disclosed that the governor made the announcement shortly after the end of the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Lokoja.

The governor commended the affected officials for exemplifying unparalleled commitment, diligence, and unwavering patriotism throughout their service to the state.

“Officials affected by this announcement are instructed to ensure a thorough and proper handover process, transferring all pertinent government documents, properties, and materials to the permanent secretary of their ministries or senior government officials stationed in their respective offices”. The statement said.

The statement further noted that some of the cabinet members, heads of agencies, and principal aides were retained.

According to the statement, among those retained includes, the Secretary to the Kogi State Government,  Mrs Ayoade Folashade Arike;  the State Security Adviser, Rtd Navy Commodore Jerry Omodara, Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kinsley  Fanwo, including those in the Ministry of  Education, Finance, Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs among others.
