Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has called for improvement in the welfare package of serving and retired security personnel to boost their morale and enable them to contribute their quota to the development of the country.

He made the call while launching the 2022 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem.

“What we are doing today is symbolic. It won’t bring those who have lost their lives back and that is why when opportunities like this come, we must make good use of them. This is to show that we stand by them.

“Because of how Nigeria is today, the welfare of the security agents is nothing to write home about and that has affected their morale and their motivation.”

Earlier, Chairman, Nigerian Legion, Niger State Council Mamuda Baba Ahmed explained that the yearly celebration of the Armed Forces Remembrance is to pay tribute to all those who fought for the peace and unity of the country by paying the ultimate price.
