There’s no authoritative fiat whatsoever as to what could qualify as good music.
According to a school of thought, good music has no language, no border and it’s good for as long as it connects to the listener. Same sentiment seems to be shared by Nigerian Afro-pop singer, Olofin Sniper (Olofinjana Ademola) who states that music is life.
“Music is a part of everyone’s life. From childhood sing-along songs, to garage grunge music, and everything in between music is everywhere. Growing up with an extremely musical background, it was in my genes that I would become a musician,” he stated.

He continued, “Playing music has helped me become the person I am. It has broaden my future and make new friends. I first joined the band in the fourth grade playing the drums. I played for about two weeks then I quit because I didn’t like it, mostly because of the teacher. In the sixth grade we got a new music teacher and she told me I looked like a trumpet player, so I gave it a try. I was taking music lessons but after the first one my music teacher told me to work hard because she loved my sound.
“Music equals life, or so the saying goes. The ability to play music is something that will live on in me for the rest of my life. Unlike playing a sport you can’t ever get worn out or injured and lose the talent.”
But music professionals have agreed that good music must have certain elements which include the melody, harmony, rhythm, texture, structure, expression or more. But as a Nigerian singer, he said that nobody has the right to decide whether a certain music is bad or good.
For an artist that has come a long way, through the thick and thin all by himself, Olofin Sniper understands the challenges and he has surmounted so well. He started music way back in school and sharpened his teeth with his first single in 2015 titled “New Dawn”.
“New Dawn” opened a vista of hope for him as a musical artist and hardly before the heat cooled off, he dropped two other singles in 2016, namely; “Look into my eyes” and “Adama”.
In 2017, Olofin Sniper registered his name among wave-making artists of the year with a Rhythm and Blues track “Cool Temper” and rounded up 2018 with an Afro-fusion number titled “Party Hard”.
He dropped a Reggae Dancehall “Move it” in 2019 and followed up in the same energetic version to crown 2020 with “Obo Erofo” featuring Fela 2, another Dancehall effort.
