Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, said his administration will procure gas-powered vehicles for public transportation to ease the burden on the people following fuel subsidy removal.
The governor stated this Sunday in his message to mark the 63rd independence anniversary and 27th years anniversary of the creation of the state.
“This anniversary is coming at a time when our people are grappling with the effects of fuel subsidy removal, represented by rising inflation and economic hardship.
“Our administration has already approved N10,000 transport allowance to all workers in the state pending the determination of a new minimum wage. We have also provided palliative assistance under our food distribution programme which targets 400,000 beneficiaries,” he said.

Governor Yahaya added that over the past 27 years, the state has undergone remarkable transformation and development, and made significant strides in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, job creation, civil service reforms, water resources, environment and sanitation.
He, therefore, pledged to continue to invest in education, healthcare, durable infrastructure and job creation, “in order to empower our youth, connect our communities, and improve the well-being of our people.”
He also commended the founding fathers of the state for the progress recorded, which he said would not have been possible without the support, dedication and commitment of the people of the state.
