The Gombe State Government has directed all public and private-owned tertiary institutions in the state to re-open for academic activities from Tuesday, November 10, 2020.
The state’s Commissioner for Higher Education, Mr Meshack Audu Lauco, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on Friday.
He said Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya had approved for the re-opening of the institutions, seven months after their closure to contain the spread of the COVID-19 in the state.
Mr Lauco added that the Ministry of Higher Education will ensure that all the institutions comply with all the Coronavirus safety protocols before they would be allowed to re-open.
He called on the administrators and proprietors of the higher institutions to report to the Ministry of Environment and Forest Resources, for fumigation of their premises ahead of the re-reopening in order to safe guard lives of students and lecturers.
The commissioner also directed the authorities of the respective institutions to come up with their suitable academic calendar.
Lauco revealed that the ministry will be visiting schools regularly to enforce strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines, warning that any erring institution would be punish.
