“This is contained in the 2023 National Assessment Report by PCL State Performance Index (PSPI), an independent organisation which provides insights into the socio-economic performance and risk profiles of Nigerian states.

“Gombe was rated high in most of the socio-economic parameters that were considered to include: economic potentials, socioeconomic performance and risk management,” the statement said.

Misilli added that at regional level, the report indicated that Gombe State stands out as the top-performing state in the North-East affected by Boko Haram Insurgency.

“Despite being in the least position in terms of socio-economic potential, the Gombe State government; efficiently utilises its limited resources to drive significant socio-economic performance,” Misilli quoted the report.

The report attributed the high rating of Gombe state to “the continuity in government, ongoing investments in infrastructure, alignment with federal initiatives, economic diversification, and strategic agricultural programmes.”
