Less than one month to the 2023 general elections, the chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Gombe State, Abdullahi Maikano Umar, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing newsmen at the weekend in Gombe, Maikano said he left the NNPP over what he described as lack of political focus, leadership direction and a clear blueprint by the governorship candidate, Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki.

I’ll continue to campaign for Tinubu — Buhari
“The NNPP governorship candidate did not have a clear plan on how to address the challenges of the state, if elected to lead the state.
“Therefore, I cannot be where rhetoric and unrealistic promises take the centre stage at campaigns and other political engagements.
“I will rather support a candidate with a clear roadmap and blueprints to address issues of governance and development of the state,” he said.
