Gombe State Special Taskforce on COVID-19 on Monday announced that the Mai Tangale, Dr Abdu Buba Maisharu II, has recovered from the coronovirus he was diagnosed with ‘12 days ago.’
Chairman of the taskforce, Professor Idris Mohammed told newsmen that the second result of the test conducted on the monarch returned negative from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) laboratory in Abuja.
He said Dr Maisharu II was isolated and the palace was locked down, with members of his family quarantine since when he was diagnosed with the virus about 12 days ago.
Daily Trust had exclusively reported on Sunday that Maisharu II, a first class monarch presiding over the Tangale chiefdom in Billiri LGA of the state, tested positive to the virus.
Meanwhile, the taskforce chairman said the state has so far recorded 127 positive cases of the COVID-19, out of which 91 were treated and discharged and recorded three deaths.
According to him, the state has sent 1, 512 samples to the NCDC laboratory for testing, out of which 1, 088 results were released and 960 suspected cases returned as negative, while they are awaiting results for 125 samples.
Professor Mohammed added that the state recently has only seven positive cases of the virus, who he said are receiving treatment at isolation centres at the Infectious Hospital, Kwadon and the Specialists Hospital, Gombe.
