Gombe State Government has provided relief materials to victims of flood disaster in Nafada town of Nafada LGA, to cushion the effect of displacement and devastation caused by floods.
The Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, who presented the materials to the victims at the Emir’s palace in Nafada, said the items were meant to relieve the pains of the victims as a result of the flood disaster.

He said a technical team of experts has been directed to study and advise the government on measures to protect the town from frequent flooding during rainy seasons.
The items donated include 60 bags of rice, 50 jerry cans of palm oil, 200 bags of maize, 300 pieces of blankets, 250 buckets, and 250 mats.
Meanwhile, a member of the House of Representatives, Hajiya Aishatu Jibril Dukku has donated N1 million to the flood victims in Nafada town.
The lawmaker announced the donation when she visited Nafada town to commiserate with the victims of the flood disaster that wreaked havoc in the town about three weeks ago.
She said the donation was meant to ameliorate sufferings of the victims and the loss recorded after a downpour that washed away their houses and farmlands.
Aishatu Dukku further appealed to the federal government to consider people of the area in the distribution of palliatives, saying “in addition to the COVID-19, they have now lost their farms, which are their means of livelihood, to the flooding.”
In his remarks, the Emir of Nafada, Muhammad Dadum Hamza, appreciated the concern shown by the state government and the legislator to the people of Nafada and assured them of judicious distribution of the items.
