The Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has suspended Mohammed Ali Amtai, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Bubayero Microfinance Bank.
The Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, who conveyed the governor’s approval, said the board of directors of the bank has also been dissolved with immediate effect.
Daily Trust reports that the board, headed by Amtai, was appointed by the governor in October 2022.
Njodi said the decision followed the findings of a forensic audit of the financial activities at the state-owned microfinance bank.
According to him, the board was dissolved based on recommendations from appointed financial consultants as well as the audit report of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
