The Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Thursday launched the sale and distribution of subsidised fertilisers to farmers in the state.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony at the fertiliser blending plant in Gombe, Governor Yahaya pegged the price at N22,000, a 50 per cent discount, to relieve farmers of their financial burden.
He said 50 per cent of the total fertilisers will be sold directly to farmers, while the remaining 50 per cent will be sold through cooperative societies, who will be given the option to repay the government through their harvests.

He said this would ensure equitable and fair access to fertiliser by all and sundry, thus guaranteeing an optimum price for farm produce and enhanced food security.
He appealed to farmers and pastoralists to foster harmonious and cooperative relationships to avoid conflicts that destroy lives and property and hinder development.
