Gombe gov constitutes taskforce on takeoff of mega schools

Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has inaugurated a nine-member taskforce committee for the completion and take-off of three mega schools in the state.

The proposed mega schools are Government Secondary School (GSS), Dukku; Government Comprehensive Day Secondary School (GCDSS), Dadin-Kowa; and Government Science Secondary School (GSSS), Lakanje-Kaltungo.

The governor said two other mega schools: Government Science Secondary School, Gombe and Government Girls’ College, Doma were already completed.

The taskforce chaired by the commissioner for education, Maji Dauda Batari, has as members Idris Abdullahi Kwami (commissioner for housing and urban development), Professor Keftin Amuga (special adviser, projects monitoring and evaluation), Mrs Naomi Philip Maiguwa (chairperson, teachers’ service commission), Mohammed Tasiu Adamu and a representative of the host community as members.

Others are Shehu Ibrahim Yerima, Coordinator, North East Development Commission; representative of the state ministry of finance, Kabiru Tsoho, Director General, Debt Management Office; representative of the state ministry of works, Aliyu Isa Shinga; and Alkali Abubakar, Senior Special Assistant on Project Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation (secretary).

Yahaya mandated the committee to submit interim progress reports in the course of the assignment, and the final report by the end of the year.
