Gombe gets new Head of Service

Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State, has appointed Alhaji Adamu Haruna Abubakar as the new Head of the state Civil Service.   

Abubakar, who was until his appointment, the Permanent Secretary in the state Ministry of Land and Survey, succeeded Mr Daniel Musa Mohammed, who retired from service last week.

Born on December 30, 1958 at Gadam in present Kwami Local Government Area of the state, the new Head of Service attended Gadam Primary School between 1966 and 1973. He proceeded to the Government Secondary School, Gombe where he obtained the West Africa School Certificate in 1977. 

He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Maiduguri in 1982. 

He joined the services of the old Bauchi State government on August 30, 1983 as Administrative Officer VII. He was promoted to Assistant Director on April 1, 1994. 

Following the creation of Gombe State in 1996, he was deployed to the state and got promoted to a Deputy Director on April 1, 1997. 

The Head of Service was a one-time Sole Administrator of Shongom LGA and served between July 22, 1998 and May 1999. 

On August 8, 2001 he was promoted to Director of Administration and Finance, where he served in various ministries. He reached the pinnacle of his career on January 21, 2002 when he was appointed as a Permanent Secretary.
