A former deputy governor of Gombe State, John Lazarus Yoriyo and 15 chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have dumped the party for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State.
Dr Yoriyo who served as deputy governor during the reign of Governor Danjuma Goje, between 2003 and 2011, joined APC in 2017.
He defected alongside many other card-carrying members of the APC including a former member of the House of Representatives, Abubakar Abubakar BD; one-time governorship aspirant, Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh and immediate past commissioner of Health, Dr Ahmed Gana.
Receiving the returnees, the state PDP chairman, Maj. Gen. Audu Kwaskebe (rtd), said the APC former executives at various wards and local government levels also defected to the PDP.
Dr Yoriyo and Hamma Saleh who spoke on behalf of the decampees from Gombe South and Gombe North senatorial districts said,” the ruling party has resorted to lies and propaganda to cover ineptitude and lack of focused leadership.”
