Gombe State has enrolled at least 1,000 Almajiri children in its Contributory HealthCare Management Agency under the equity programme.

The initiative aims to provide these vulnerable children with access to essential healthcare services.

During an event organized with support from the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor at Tsansanya, Almajiri, and Islamiyya schools, the state’s deputy governor, Dr Manassah Jatau highlighted the administration’s commitment to addressing the health needs of the population, particularly the vulnerable and underprivileged.

He noted that the introduction of the GoHealth scheme is designed to ensure that even those who cannot afford healthcare services have access to them.

“Without this scheme, most people in this category would have been unable to access health services because they cannot afford them.

“Today marks a significant milestone in our administration’s efforts toward healthcare provision as we witness the enrollment of 1,000 Almajiri students into the Gombe State Health Insurance Scheme.”

Dr. Jatau further explained that the Almajiri children, being a vulnerable group, are especially susceptible to communicable diseases due to their exposure to harsh environmental conditions,” Dr Jatau said.
