The Gombe State Special Taskforce on COVID-19 yesterday said an additional 13 persons have been discharged from the isolation centres after results of their second test returned negative.
Chairman of the taskforce, Professor Idris Mohammed, who disclosed this at a press briefing, said with the recent 13 patients discharged, the state has a total of 72 people that were discharged after recovering from the pandemic.
According to him, following the release of 72 patients, the state now has only 14 active cases of the COVID-19, which he said are still on isolation and being treated at the designated isolation centres.
Prof Mohammed said that the taskforce had submitted 1,272 samples for tests out of which 119 tested positive while the results of 245 samples are being awaited.
The chairman also said that 150 almajirai repatriated to the state were received and quarantined at the NYSC camp at Amada village, adding that eight out of 48 of them who were from Kano State have tested positive for the virus.
