Gombe crisis: We’ve reconciled Inuwa, Goje — Buni

The Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it has reconciled the Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya and a former governor of the state, Senator Danjuma Goje.

Yahaya and Goje have been at daggers-drawn over the control of party structure in the state.

The APC leaders met with the Gombe State governor and Senator Goje at the residence of the chairman of the party’s reconciliation committee, Senator Abdullahi Adamu in Abuja yesterday.

A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, senators and former governors of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima and Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, among others attended the meeting.

The Director General Press and Media Affairs to Yobe State Governor and Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Mai Mala Buni, Mamman Mohammed said the feud between the duo has been resolved at the meeting.

“The successful reconciliation has further stamped the authority of the party in the state.

“The party will continue to explore and exploit ways of resolving differences among stakeholders amicably across the country for a united front ahead of the 2023 general elections,” he said.

Also, Governor Yahaya’s spokesman, Ismaila Uba Misilli, in a statement, said the meeting among other things is to proffer solution to the current fracas in the party, following the congresses.

He said Governor Yahaya and Senator Goje were given opportunity to present their respective positions on the crisis rocking the APC in the state.

“A robust discussion was held with a view to unravelling what the problems are, and how best to proffer solutions in order to resolve the differences as well as cement all cracks within the party in the state ahead of the national convention and preparatory to the 2023 general elections,” the statement read.
