We read with profound shock, the interview granted this newspaper on Wednesday, May 9th instant, by one Mohammed Jibrin Barde, who was described as an aspirant to the office of governor of Gombe State under APC. Contrary to the erroneous and false claims by Barde, we, or at least majority of workers in Gombe see the administration of Dr. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo as the best in treatment of civil servants.

It is a cheap propaganda and crass falsehood, the blind accusations leveled against the Gombe Governor by the said Barde who sensationally and irresponsibly alleged that Gombe civil servants and retirees are dying of hunger and disease as a result of what he falsely claimed as Dankwambo’s inability to be paying salaries and gratuities.

We wonder whether Barde is living on another planet, or is just blinded by hatred and desperation, because the situation in Gombe is exactly the opposite of what the desperate aspirant claimed. We wonder whether it is through falsehood and taking the people of Gombe on a ride that he hopes to achieve his gubernatorial ambition.

Though as civil servants we are apolitical, we cannot close our eyes or look the other way when some fake politicians, with fake credentials, try to place a speck in our eyes just to rubbish the excellent record of Governor Dankwambo or any other leader. It is public knowledge that Gombe is on the lower rungs of statutory allocation from the Federation Account, among the states, but that has not stopped Governor Dankwambo from becoming the best governor in Nigeria on virtually all fronts, especially payment of salaries and allowances of civil servants and retirees.

And to add salt to injury, the so-called aspirant did not cite even one example of the civil servants that he wildly claimed have been dying, and obviously because he is empty, he also did not roll out any agenda of what he wants to achieve for the civil servants.

Gombe civil servants and retirees are not morons.  The electorates in Gombe are far more sophisticated than Barde thinks.  Gone are the days when an aspirant could dish out cheap falsehood or seek to rubbish his opponent and the people will take it hook, line and sinker.”

We a civil servants advice Barde, if he is serious, to tell the Gombe workers what he wants to achieve for them, that is better than Dankwambo’s, and not to engage in the wasteful venture of misleading the good people of Gombe State.
