Goje’s family denies spraying money at daughter’s wedding

Senator Danjuma Goje has denied the video showing money purportedly sprayed at the wedding ceremony of his daughter, Fauziyya Danjuma Goje.

Goje, a former Governor of Gombe state and Senator Representing Gombe Central Senatorial District, married off his daughter at a well-attended event last Friday in Abuja.

In a statement which his media aide, Muhammad Adamu Yayari, issued on his behalf, on Sunday, he said the viral video circulating on social media is an attempt to tarnish the image of Goje’s family.

“The attention of the family of Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje has been drawn to a misleading viral video circulating on social media, insinuating that money was sprayed at the wedding ceremony of his daughter, Fauziyya Danjuma Goje.”

“On behalf of the respected Goje’s family, we categorically deny this mischievous allegation and consider it a blatant and calculated attempt to tarnish the image of the revered family and the esteemed guests who attended the ceremony,” he said.

According to him, the family would never act contrary to the laws of Nigeria.

He added that, “It is, therefore, unthinkable and mischievous for disgruntled elements to share the viral dollar-spraying video depicting or insinuating the same to be part of the celebration of Fauziyya’s wedding.”

“We urge the public to disregard this baseless claim and appreciate the values of decency and respect that define Senator Goje’s family. In fact, throughout the line of events to celebrate the wedding, there was no place where men and women were mixed.”

Daily Trust reports that the wedding between Fauziyya Danjuma Goje and her groom, Aliyu Ahmed Abubakar, was held last Friday at the Central Mosque in Abuja.

President Bola Tinubu served as the guardian of the bride while the immediate past governor of Gombe state, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, served as the representative of the groom.

Prominent dignitaries that attended the event were Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Chief of Staff to the president, Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, serving and former governors, as well as serving and former members of the National Assembly.
