The director general of Gombe Geographic Information System (GOGIS), Dr Kabiru Usman Hassan, has launched an empowerment programme aimed at alleviating poverty among women in his community.
The programme which was designed to be implemented in phases had 100 women beneficiaries in the first-phase who were meritoriously selected from across Bolari community and its neighbourhoods.

Each beneficiary received seed capital of 10,000 naira in cash to begin a home trade that would make them self-reliant to enable them to cater for their essential needs as mothers and housewives.
The DG who was represented at the programme by Abba Musa Abba urged the beneficiaries to use the funds for the purpose it was meant for.
The beneficiaries thanked the benefactor for the gesture and pledged to utilise the funds accordingly for their betterment.
