The Paramount ruler and Awujale of Ijebu land, Oba Sikiru Adetona, has given thanks to God for the strength to witness this year’s annual Ojude Oba festival in Ijebu ode, Ogun State.

The monarch who spoke against the backdrop of his illness months back, and the resultant rumour that he had died thanked those that have contributed to the success of the event.

He said he was happy that the Almighty God gave him the strength to witness the day.

“What we are doing today, it is God who made it possible and I will also appreciate the state government, Globacom, First City Monument Bank Nigerian Breeweries Plc and Rites Foods Limited for the success of this event. This festival has been around for centuries, being unique in its organisation, which makes it difficult to be emulated elsewhere,” Adetona said.

The State governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, congratulated the monarch for his health status, declaring that the programme had surpassed others of its kind in splendour.
