Go to court, stop inciting violence, Bishop tells aggrieved politicians

The Bishop Diocese of Kwara Anglican Communion, Rt. Revd Sunday Timothy Adewole, has urged aggrieved politicians in the recently concluded elections across the country to seek justice in court and stop inciting people to cause violence.

The spiritual leader made the call yesterday during the Easter service at the Cathedral of Saint Barnabas Anglican Church, Sabo-Oke, Ilorin, the state capital.

Following the announcement of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC as the president-elect by INEC, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi of the opposition PDP and LP respectively rejected the results.

Last week, the running mate to Obi, Ahmed Datti, said handing over to Tinubu would amount to killing democracy by the judiciary.

The minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed had said Datti’s comment amounted to treason.

But speaking on the election, Adewole said “Nobody can come to power except the Lord put him there. If we want to seek redress, we should go the legal way, we should not incite people, we should follow the law of the land and then hope on the lord.”

Speaking on the essence of Easter festivities, Bishop Adewole said, “Easter celebration is the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ to defeat Satan and to open the gate of eternity for believers”.
