Glo @ 20: 89 staff get cash rewards for 20 years of unbroken service

A multinational telecommunications company, Globacom, has rewarded a total of 89 staff members who had worked for it for an unbroken 20 years with millions of naira each.

Speaking at the company’s exquisite party tagged, “Twenty and Unlimited” to celebrate its long-serving employees in Lagos State,  the executive vice chairman of Globacom, Mrs Bella Disu, noted that the Board and Management of the company were pleased with the awardees for their contributions to the growth of the business in the last 20 years.

The party, she said, was organised to reward and encourage them to keep striving for greater excellence as the company celebrates two decades of success.

“We are incredibly proud of this feat, which symbolises two decades of our commitment to excellent service delivery, quality, innovation and outstanding communication strategies. This remarkable journey and the heights we have reached are all thanks to the visionary leadership and tenacity of our founder and chairman, Dr Mike Adenuga (Jnr),” she said.

Some highlights of the party were different categories of competitions for staff, which also attracted handsome rewards from the company. These included Mr and Miss Glo pageants, where Ifoghale Ashaka emerged Mr Glo with the duo of Hakeem Obayomi and Olalekan Agbaje trailing behind him as first and second runners-up.

While Mr Glo won N2million, Hakeem and Olalekan went home with N1million and N750, 000 respectively. In the Miss Glo category, Gift Okafor was crowned, winning N2milion with Favour Akinbayo winning N1million as first runner-up with a cash prize of N1million while Faith Chika Obi got N750,000 as second runner-up. The best dressed male and female also won N500,000 each.

Mobaghan of the Customer Care Unit, who won the female category of the dancing competition, lauded the management for rewarding staff.

There was also a surprise award of N250,000 to 50 random winners in a lucky dip drawn in the presence of the attendees.

Globacom, popularly known as Glo, is one of the leading telecom service providers in Africa and founded by Nigerian billionaire businessman and philanthropist, Mike Adenuga on August 29, 2003.
