Give peace a chance, Nasarawa gov begs warring communities

Nasarawa State government has warned the warring Tiv farmers and Fulani herders in Ajimaka and Ekye development areas in Doma Local Government Area to lay down arms to give peace a chance for the overall development of the state.

The incident on April 24, 2021 led to the killings of about 18 Tiv farmers by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herders in the Ajimaka area of Doma Local Government Area.

The Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Emmanuel Akabe, made the appeal when he visited the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Rukubi to sympathise with the victims and register the state government’s condolence over the recent attack on Ajimaka community.

According to the deputy governor, the visit was aimed at interacting with representatives of the warring factions and other members of the community in the area.

Akabe, who represented Governor Abdullahi Sule, reiterated the state government’s commitment to work hard and do everything humanly possible to return all those that deserted their communities as a result of the crisis to their homes to continue with their normal lives.
