The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA Nigeria), says the girl child is still disadvantaged in Nigeria.
It, however, noted that the girl child had continued to surmount the obstacles and challenges to survive and excel.

FIDA, in a statement Monday by its Country Vice President and National President, Rhoda Prevail Tyoden and National Publicity Secretary, Eliana Martins, to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child 2021, celebrated a list of Nigerian girls doing great in areas of digital technology.
It hailed Nigerian girls who excelled in IT education and digital technology, particularly Jessica Osita, Promise Nnalue, Nwabuaku Ossai, Adaeze Onuigbo, Vivian Okoye, whom they said came from Regina Pacis Secondary School, Onitsha, Anambra State to represent Nigeria and Africa at the World Technovation Challenge in the Silicon Valley in San Francisco, USA and won the Gold Medal in the contest.
FIDA also congratulated female digital tech champions such as Adora Nwodo, a software engineer at Microsoft; Abiola Eniola Aminu, a product designer at Flutter-wave; Omolara Adejuwon, an editor at ProAndroidDev, amongst others who had so far accomplished giant strides in this sector despite known challenges.
