Responding to our correspondent’s questions, the coach boasted that he has raised a formidable team that would have an easy sail through the final. “I am very, very confident in my team. I assure you that our players are up to the task,” he said.
He however lamented that they were yet to be served with the fixtures to enable them know who to meet and how to prepare for their matches.
On the issue of hiring mercenaries, which participating universities are usually accused of, he said as a university of education, they train teachers, and so are not expected to indulge into such acts. “We train teachers in our institution. So a trainer must not indulge in such malpractices,” said Tonko
On whether they encountered any problem, Coach Tonko expressed worries that spectators were not fully controlled by the security. “Yes, as you can see people are almost into the pitch. They are blocking us from watching the match properly,” he said.
According to him, in other places people were not allowed close to the main bowl. “Elsewhere, apart from those in the stands, the officials, players and others that are taking part, all other people stay behind the fence. And this makes the whole place nice,” he said.
