He also described Akufo-Addo’s re-election for the second term as a testimony of his performance in office.
Obasanjo’s position was contained in a letter of congratulations to Akufo-Addo, government and the people of Ghana on the successful conduct of the country’s general elections on December 7.
In the letter, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent in Abeokuta, Ogun State yesterday by Obsasanjo’s media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, the former president charged Akufo-Addo to remain enthusiastic, energetic, focused and committed as he had been in the last four years in serving the people of Ghana and indeed the rest of Africa for the next four years.
“You have been re-elected at a crucial time when the world is emerging from the socio-economic devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, there has been a breakthrough in developing a vaccine against the deadly virus.
