GGSS Abaji wins JA Nigeria entrepreneur contest

The Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Abaji, has won the Junior Achievement (JA) Nigeria Entrepreneur competition.

The students also emerged the best Regional Company of the year in the FCT.

The school will now represent the FCT at a national competition in Lagos later this year.

Government Secondary School (GSS) Maitama, Abuja, was runners up in the competition while Community Secondary, Asokoro came third.

In his speech at the event, the executive director Junior Achievement (JA), Mrs. Simi Nwogugu, commended all the participants in the contest.

She said the competition was organised to build entrepreneurship skills among young people, noting that many youths lacked jobs after their graduation from school.

“But our main target are secondary school students because our universities can only admit about 300,000 to 400,000, because we want youths that are productive,” she said.

“So we want to see how we can give them this entrepreneurial skills to enable them go into business while waiting for admission,” she added.
