Generator fumes kill man, wife hospitalised

A man, Nwachukwu Ikechukwu, has died after inhaling fumes from a generating set in his house, while his wife, Oyin Falodun, has been hospitalised in Shogoye community in Owode Egba area of the Ogun State.

The police spokesman in the state, Omolola Odutola, said that the Chairman of the community, Showunmi Sunday, reported the incident to the police.

She said that on receiving the information, officers were dispatched to the scene where the man was found lifeless on the floor and his wife unconscious, both of whom were taken to the Ore Ofe Hospital, Owode Egba, where he was confirmed dead.

Odutola said, “One Showunmi Sunday of Shogoye community Owode Egba who is the chairman of the community came to our station and reported that a couple residing at Shogoye area via Owode Egba had issues in their residence.”

Odutola said that the wife, on regaining consciousness, said they slept off after putting on their generator in the sitting room to power their fan in the bedroom.
