The senator representing the FCT, Senator Ireti Heeba Kingibe, has urged Nigerians to support the fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV), saying that the ugly trend must stop.
Kingibe, who is the Senate Committee chairperson on Women Affairs, made this call on Saturday in Abuja during a ‘Walkathon in solidarity with International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women’.
She expressed optimism that the gender bills that suffered setback during the 9th National Assembly will not suffer the same fate in the 10th Assembly because legislators in the 10th Assembly are unanimous in condemning any form of violence in the country, particularly, GBV.
