Gbong Gwom Jos calls for state police

Buba made the call in his palace while playing host to a coalition of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) who were in Jos on a solidarity/assessment visit over the crises that have engulfed Plateau State in recent past. He said by so doing, state governors would have the powers to respond quickly whenever crises break out in their respective states.

Alternatively, the Gbong Gwom said state governments should be allowed to set up their own police to take care of security at the state and local government areas. According to him, this arrangement will reduce the bureaucracy of waiting for clearance from before responding to crises situations as state governors will have direct control over state police.
